Crispin Spaeth has been living and working in Seattle since 1990, after graduating from Oberlin College with a degree in Visual Art. In 1992, she founded CSDG. With a legion of collaborators, she has created seven full-evenings, and over 30 smaller works for CSDG, and other theater and dance companies. Spaeth’s dances have been commissioned by D9, Cornish, On the Boards, Freehold, Velocity, One World, and Printer’s Devil, among others. Through CSDG and other producing collaborations, Spaeth has curated and produced over a dozen evenings of multi-disciplinary short works. She co-founded the Seattle dance organization, Kick, which aims to connect dance artists, organizations, and the public.
Dancers
Heather Budd (Performer) was born in Saint Paul Minnesota. She graduated from Beloit College with a B.A. in Dance and Anthropology. She currently dances with Launch Dance Theater, Acorn dance, CSDG and is a founding member of Left Field Dance.
Drew Elliott (Performer) is excited to be dancing with CSDG this year. Drew was a dance major at Cornish College of the Arts. In the pass he has danced locally with Wade Madsen and Dancers, Buttrock Suites, Men in Dance, and taught for the Board of Education in WI and HI.
Kathy Lawson (Performer) graduated from Amherst College in 2003 with a B.A. in Law, Jurisprudence, and Social Thought. She is currently a student at Brian Utting School of Massage and plans to open a private bodywork practice in Summer 2006.
Chay Norton (Performer) was born and raised on Bainbridge Island. He began studying dance at Western Washington University where he received a bachelor’s degree in English. His other interests include reading and writing poetry, and laying hardwood floors.
Jules Skloot (Performer) grew up in Madison, WI. Jules graduated from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA with a B.A. in Choreography, Performance, and Community Dance Studies. In addition to CSDG, Jules is also a member of Seattle's Left Field Dance collective, and Pengelly: Projects.
Collaborators
Jon Harmon (Production Director/Lighting Designer): past credits include God’s Country for CHAC; (L)imitations of Life for The Empty Space Theatre; Dream of Zeus for Garret Fisher Ensemble. For CSDG, he designed the lights for FADE, and was production Director for Dark Room.
Etta Lilienthal (Designer) is a production designer for film, theater, and dance. She is currently designing the feature film Cthulhu. She was awarded the Artist Trust Fellowship in 2000, and a TCG Career Development award for 03-05. Future aspirations include designing music videos and living in Mexico. For CSDG, she designed the set for FADE, and costumes for Up Close and Dark Room.
Yann Novak (Composer) is a sound artist based in Seattle. He has released a set of 5 x 3” Cds, and produced two film soundtracks that premiered at the SLGFF. He was featured on “PDSTWE Too” and “Ong Ong field Recordings Vol. 1.” In 2004, His label, Dragon’s Eye Recordings, has released the soundtracks to CSDG’s “Fade”, “Up Close” and “Dark Room.” He has been reviewed in The Wire, Resonance, The Seattle Times, The Seattle Weekly and The Stranger. For CSDG, he created the scores for FADE, Up Close, and Dark Room.
